Stephen Canning is a result-driven communicator with a strong public relations and public affairs background, with a background experience in management consulting at big four firm PwC. Stephen has trained in crisis communications, worked on a number of national elections and referendums and has a specialisation in health and charity PR. Stephen has strong exposure to political and governmental organisations having been first elected age 18. Stephen is experienced in leading employees and managing relationships with diverse clients and stakeholders at all levels. He has been accountable for providing management consulting services, developing new processes to improve internal operations, and guiding campaign development activities for individuals in public office. Stephen has worked extensively in the political space, including serving as an elected councillor in Essex for a decade; a secondment to the Minister for Housing and Planning; a leading role during a UK wide referendum; serving on the board of Colchester Hospital University Foundation Trust; and as non-executive director of national care company Essex Cares. Stephen is known as a versatile contributor with experience in all public and corporate affairs functions, exceptional communication and leadership skills, and a continued commitment to implementing industry best practices. Stephen is a member of professional bodies the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, the Public Relations and Communications Association and the Association of Accounting Technicians.

The Epilepsy Society leads on research and advocacy for the 1 in 600 people living with epilepsy and are committed to finding a functional cure in our lifetimes.
